This project involved the construction of a replacement single-storey three-bedroom dwelling, designed to meet modern standards.
The existing property was a two-bedroom 1950s pre-fabricated bungalow, which ultimately proved to be unfit for retention due to its inadequate thermal properties and poor positioning on the site. After careful consideration, it was agreed that the most effective way to move forward was to demolish the existing structure and essentially 'start again.'
By removing the old bungalow and rebuilding, we were able to re-orientate the new property on an 'S' shaped site, which allowed for significantly better views and a stronger connection to the beautiful garden space. The result was a contemporary, energy-efficient, and thermally efficient three-bedroom property, perfectly tailored to meet the client's needs.
My responsibilities for this project included conducting a measured survey of the existing property, developing scheme designs for discussion and agreement, as well as preparing and submitting the planning drawings and ensuring compliance with building regulations in the design process.
